The Price of Freedom... $5 per gal!

On February 17, 2011, the people Libya began a campaign to remove their ruler of the past 40 years, Col. Muammar Gaddafi. This conflict has led to the UN getting involved and imposing a no fly zone against the government of Libya. This unprecedented in the history of the UN to ask a leader to step down and install the opposition. I personally want Gaddadfi, and the leader of Syria, Bashar Al Assad, to step down. This is for religious reasons because it has been declared by the scholars of Islam that these two men are not Mooslem. As non-Mooslems, they should not have dominion over predominately Mooslem countries. However, my heart and my wallet are in two different locations. The price of crude is escalating as the civil was in Libya escalates. This has an effect of everything from gas prices, plane tickets, and food prices. If this continues into the summer, regular unleaded gas could be $5 per gal! We do not even import oil from Libya! Unfortunately, this global market is based on gambling. Speculation based on fear, such as war or natural disasters, can drive up prices on a number of items, such as crude. I don't want to sound selfish, but I hope these conflicts in Africa and the Middle East are resolved soon. I do not want to pay for higher groceries and $5 per gal. regular unleaded.

Japan's Natural Disasters Do Not Mean Apocalypse Now!

On March 11, 2011, Japan was hit by a 9.0 Earthquake. This gave birth to a tsunami that killed over 10,000 and left more than 500,000 homeless. My prayers and empathy go out for the people of Japan. It is times of great tragedy like this that I hear great statements of ignorance. It is well know that Texas is a red state. So as one would expect, there are a lot of simple folks. With that in mind I try to be very patient with my fellow Texans and their mental faculties. The only time I lose it a bit is on subjects where I know they should know better, if they graduated from elementary school. Since moving back here in 2000, I have constantly heard that every military conflict and natural disaster is a fulfillment of prophecy. I guess the statement by Edmund Burke is true, "Those who don't know history are destined to repeat it." If one goes online and uses google, one will find that the first generation of Christians to the current generation have believed the World was coming to an end in their lifetime. Every single generation looked at military conflicts, natural disasters and phenomenon to be fulfillment of endtime prophecy. The vague prophecies of Nostradamus and the likes of William Miller have not helped the situation either. If one just looks at the scientific evidence, one will find this area of the world has the most earthquakes. Wasn't there just an Earthquake in Asia? Did everybody forget about the OTHER tsunami? Earthquakes are quite frequent. They are the result of Earth's crust shifting. This is called plate tectonics. California has so many Earthquakes that the average resident can tell the magnitude of the quake. The Earthquake moved Japan 8 feet. Plate tectonics happen with God's Permission, but every time it happens does not mean Doomsday is right around the corner.

Pres. Obama Should Be An Audacious Advocate For The Unions

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker on March 11, 2011, signed a bill into law that will end most of the rights of state employee unions. It seems as if a certain segment of the U.S. population will not be happy until the employer/employee dynamic is what it was in the late 1800's. What has been surprising is Pres. Obama's near silence of the situation in WI. No groups were as supportive of then candidate Sen. Obama in 2008, other than Obama's own political machine, than ACORN and the unions. Pres. Obama owns a debt to these groups, but it appears he has thrown them under the bus. Pres. Obama, since he has been in office, has not mentioned the bill to allow anyone to form a union, Employee Free Choice Act, let alone fight for it. Pres. Obama seems to have sat back and watched the Republicans destroy ACORN. Now it seems he is sitting back and watching once again as the Republicans destroy the unions. Pres. Obama should be an audacious advocate for the unions. He promised while campaigning in 2007 that he would put on a pair of comfortable shoes and picket with the unions. Maybe the Pres. couldn't find a pair of comfortable shoes because he has yet to join Michael Moore, Ed Shultz, and the unions in WI in the picket lines. I am not an endorser of unions. Picketing and protesting is contrary to the Islamic methodology. However,I desire for Pres. Obama to support the unions because in this slavery driven capitalist society, unions are currently the only way for the worker to receive some semblance of justice. Pres. Obama needs to fight as hard as he possibly can to protect the rights of the workers. I pray to Al 'Ala (The Most High) that Pres. Obama will be on the side of justice and stand with the people.

How Can A Sponsor of Terrorism Denounce Terrorism?

Rep. Peter King was the chairman over a hearing concerning the radicalization of Mooslem Americans of March 10, 2011. I agree with King that extremism of the Mooslem youth should be denounced and examined by the U.S. government and the Mooslem Community. Many a mind from amoungst the youth of the Mooslems have been corrupted by the writings of Abu 'Ala Mawdudi and Sayyid Qutb. I have personally witnessed the corruption of a Caucasian convert to Islam, Khaleel, who loved the writings of Sayyid Qutb. He treated the Galveston Housing Authority several times that he would blow up their administration building. He is currently in jail because of this. There is definitely a failure amongst much of the leadership in the Mooslem community over this issue. You will have Imams in the media denouncing terrorism while at the same time having a copy of Sayyid Qutb's books, Milestones and In Shade of The Qur'an, in the Mosque library. This issue must be dealt with! But what dumbfounds me is, how can a sponsor of terrorism denounce terrorism? Peter King is an admitted funder and supporter of the terrorist group, the Irish Republican Army or the IRA. The IRA was supplied weapons and money by another terrorist group, the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). Peter King's rational seems to be if the terrorism doesn't happen to Americans, then it's not terrorism. It's the type of mentality I have come to expect from WASP Republicans. Peter King says the community should be held responsible for not speaking out against terrorism. I agree. Every time a Mooslem commits an act of terrorism, Mooslems should denounce. And I say to Peter King, "Every time a WASP commits an act of terrorism, WASP should denounce it!
